Have You Applied for the 2024 FairPlay Vouchers in Queensland?
If you haven’t, it looks like you still have time! This week the Queensland government announced another 100,000 vouchers have been made available.
What Are FairPlay Vouchers?
They are government-funded sports vouchers for children valued at $200. Children aged 5-17 years old can use the vouchers to participate in a wide range of sports at local sporting facilities and clubs. The vouchers are not means-tested and very easy to apply for.
Gymnastics Fun
When our kids learned they could do a term of gymnastics with the vouchers, they were super excited. They had been wanting to try gymnastics for some time, but we all know how quickly the extra-curricular fees add up! Especially if you are a homeschool family!
Here they are having a great time training with their coach.
How to apply
You can apply through the Fairplay Vouchers site here – https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/fairplay/apply
There will be a simple form asking about your residency, Medicare details, and how much sport your child already plays.
We were approved within an hour of filling out the form for each child. Very happy kids!
After you are approved, you can simply search through the list of registered providers with your postcode and choose one. All we had to do was send our vouchers to the local registered gymnastics club and turn up at class time. So easy!
Tips
Do type your child’s details in EXACTLY as they appear on your Medicare card, otherwise, you may get a message saying the details don’t match. Then…. you have to fill it out all over again!
If you know you won’t be able to continue the chosen sport once the voucher amount is spent, it might be best to avoid activities that require expensive uniform or club fees. These alone may gobble up much of the $200 before your child has attended a session.
All the best with your Fairplay Vouchers application!
